Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

To get started, send us an enquiry through our home page and our team will reach out to you for a free 15 minute consultation. If you decide to continue with therapy, we will help you book your first session. We’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Where will the sessions take place?

Bastion Psychology uses telehealth, serving clients throughout Australia. This means you can speak with your psychologist from the convenience of your own home, or wherever is best for you.

Telehealth is convenient and flexible. All you need is a private space, reliable internet and a device with camera and microphone (like a phone or laptop.)

Many clients find telehealth just as engaging as in person sessions, without the stress of going to an unfamiliar place.

What sort of therapy does Bastion offer?

Our psychologists work with you to find the right therapy for your needs. Please refer to our services page for a list of available therapy modalities and assessments.

What is a GP Mental Health Plan?

A Mental Health Care Plan is a referral from your GP to a psychologist that gives you access to Medicare rebates. This plan supports your mental wellbeing and makes professional help more affordable. You can receive a rebate of $96.65 per session for up to 10 sessions per year.

How do I get a GP Mental Health Plan?

Book an appointment with your GP, ideally a long consultation, and ask them if a Mental Health Care Plan is right for you. If your GP agrees, they will prepare the Plan and give it to you. You can also ask them to send it directly to us.

Do I need a Plan to see a psychologist?

Not at all. You are welcome to book an appointment without a care plan. The plan is only needed to claim the Medicare rebate.

Unsure if this is right for you?

We understand starting therapy is a big step. That is why we offer the no pressure 15 minute consultation to help you decide.

Do you offer Bulk Billing?

Bastion does offer bulk billing (no out of pocket cost). However, availability is limited. Please speak with your therapist during your consultation on payment options.

Cancellation policy
